Simply put, I love Louis Vuitton! After my third major purchase from there, I realized that this is going to develop into a beautiful, yet very expensive, relationship. And, quite possibly, my longest termed relationship as well, if you will. While ALL designers at some point in their careers produce an item of major question (the multicolored monogram in LV's case), I always find my finger strolling across their site every so often when I just want a pick-me-up from a blah mood or even if the occasion calls for just some mindless surfing.
Most recently, I received an email inviting me to 'explore Angelina Jolie's journey in Cambodia with Louis Vuitton'. Angelina holds a dear place in my heart, as a good friend used to tell me when I was younger (and hadn't yet grown into all of my exotic facial features) that I looked like Angelina, minus the height and skin-tone, of course. It was the eyes and lips, mainly, but somewhat far-fetched. I'm still flattered. Anyway, this was definitely something I had to share with my close one. Although I don't think he could get passed Angelina to relish in my love of LV. I clicked the link to see Ms. Jolie for a brief second before I noticed something about India. Without thinking I clicked the link and it took me a worldwind tour of the motherland. As I'm always first skeptical about all things India and am hesitant to allot credit where due, I LOVE THE ELEPHANTS LACED IN LOUIE GARB! Actually, I love all things elephants (a post for a later time)!
Here is the link and I hope you can enjoy it for what it is...

To my sisters,
"Your sister is your first friend in life. No one will ever understand your crazy family like your sister. Even if you don't get together or talk as much as you could, she'll always remain your friend. Your sister will hold your hand for a little while, but will hold your heart for a lifetime. It's 'National Sister Week', re-post if you have sisters that you love with all your heart."I saw this post wandering around, making its way all over the Facebook world about two weeks ago and couldn't help but feel cheated. It took from then until now to get pass all my anger that I hold in my heart for you. And when a good friend suggested to cry, scream it out and slug my pillow as if it were your face, I just smiled and accepted the advise. I smiled because I knew I had done all of it already and still I am filled with more anger and frustration than before, more than that of a lifetime. You are supposed to be the one here for me, to hold my hand and to gently nudge my chin up when my head has fallen. Where the fuck are you? You used me at your weakest moments and threw me away at your strongest.
I was there for you both. I never left your side even when Mama and Mami said they didn't want you to stay in their home any longer. I didn't stand behind you, but in front of you and told them that I will be with my sister; where she goes, I go. I left everything, year after year, for you.
It must have been tough being the oldest, I can't say I understand. But when Mom and Dad were hard on you, I protected you. Still today I calm down our mother when she gets worked up about your attitude and I smile when our father speaks your praises. But when Tony left you, I was there and when everyone was against Adam, I was on your side. I protected you as a sister and him as a brother. It was me who convinced our parents that this is what you wanted and he is who makes you happy. It was me and I did it for you, unconditionally.
I also protected you, you know this. Without a dollar in my pocket I never said no to anything for you. Anywhere I went I always bought you an 'I'm thinking of you' gift. I always had you in mind. You were my best friend, my sister. Even when I hated you most, I still told Mom and Dad to let stop dragging it out and let you finally marry Connor. I was always there for you. I ended friendships with those who treated you with such disregard. You were my baby sister and the most important thing in my entire life. I couldn't even see you get sick, it hurt me so badly.
I don't know what I did to have lost you both so easily. My hatred for you is so strong that it has become the single most thing I am passionate about. You have failed me. No matter how successful you may think you are in your separate lives, you will always be a derelict loafer. Your money and your child and your other families will never make up for your lack in my life. We are sisters, whether you care to believe it or not, and this pain I feel every-single-day is what will keep you from being completely, blissfully happy ever.
When you both got married, I was there. I smiled and cried and laughed for you all. I felt happiness for you as if it were my own. And now, when I reach that point in my life, you will not be there. You will not insist on your sibling-esque duties to stand by my side on my happiest day. That day will be all about me and my family. You are not, in any definition of the word, my family. I wish I could forget about you. You mean so little to me that I can't believe I am allowing myself to hate you. I shouldn't care. But for some reason, I DO.
I feel the heaviness in my heart every moment of every day that I breathe. Every time I see or eat or do anything, for just a brief microsecond the thought of sharing it with you passes my mind, and then all of my heart is filled up with animosity, so much that I can't ever love someone as much as I detest you. I wish there were some measure to forbid you from allowing me to want to care. I loathe your essence and feel complete malice to the very thought of you.
In reality, I haven't lost anything by losing you. So, why do I feel otherwise? I suppose that I hate you so much that I hate hating you just as much.
In forever repugnance,
Ripple

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th with friends, family and loved ones!
Off to start another week of drag but at least it's a short week!
HAPPY TUESDAY, ALL!
comfort on a rainy day
It's the end of May and I'm not alone when I say, "C'mon, Mother Nature, give us a break!" While it has been years since I have experienced spring showers, I just want temperatures above 50 degrees! I know I can't practically install solar powered outdoor heaters (yet) so my consolation prize is comfort food. Here is a favorite of ours:
This is just a dish we fall back on when we want the solace of sweet potatoes and corn. As great as this tastes, I'd give up oatmeal cookies for BBQ and flip flop weather... I dare you to dare me!
Relief is just around the corner so stay dry and always remember, my toes will always desire sand between them more than yours!

March is finally here!
Longly anticipated, March is finally here! Such wonderful things happen throughout this month, namely the annual celebration of yours truly. Along side my birthday, we get more sunlight, warmer days, Spring begins to shine and the best part, tulips! Tulips have always been my perennial of choice and when flame's mother dazzled me with a lovely bouquet of blooms to welcome our favorite season (she happens to be a March bloomer as well), you could just imagine my reaction. What a pleasant surprise!

Some people make you think, others just damper your spirits
I'm a very positive person and while I love to see the best in everything, whether it be a person or a situation, there are just some things that can't be helped. Something a previous classmate said made me think.
Over-analyzing is my specialty so I have dissected the meanings and hidden meaning behind this to the point where my scrutiny has hindered my positivity. So, my question is if people truly believe this. Don't we all have a circle of close people whom we make ourselves fully vulnerable for and who truly care for us as much as we do for them, those we genuinely care for their successes and try our hardest to barrier failures from them? Or is it just me? The ideology that we determine our own destiny is certainly most motivating but the happiness of those around me contributes to that empire I have built for myself (in reality, I'm only 25 so I suppose I'm still building it). How am I to expect total and complete glee without the merriment of my family and other loved ones in support of that? Sure, I can be 'happy' unparalleled to others but utter euphoria constitutes the health, well-being and most importantly, happiness, of those I truly care for.
So, dearest former-friend, take your cryptic words with you and please don't preach to me about the tough facade you claim uphold because you are empty and bare. While you try so hard to keep from exposing yourself at the sacrifice of your own support system, ironically, you have managed to expose yourself to the highest level of unhappiness, loneliness.
.
"Secrets=power=happiness. I have learned that it is impossible to truly make someone outside of yourself happy. So why waste time. Keep yourself happy and that is all you need. Forget about all of those around you and satisfy only you. The meaning of everything is your own happiness. People will tell you that happiness comes in helping others. This may be true to a sliver of a degree. Making others happy is a disappointment, because you will never get the recognition that you truly deserve, or the self recognition that you strive for. Happiness is a time to time basis."

Like I've said before, it's about the little things...
I care the world for the people in my life. There are times I feel sad when they worry and I'm as happy for their excitements as if it were happening to me. With this being said, I love to do little things for the ones I love. This past Feliz Dia de San Valentin I made sure to acknowledge those I love and appreciate in my life by sending out cards to my closests.
Well, I had no clue that my small gesture would make sure a large impact on someone's day. Here is the chat:
All I have to say is that it was so worth it. It made me so happy to know someone was smiling at that exact moment just because of me, no one else but me.
Friday is only days away... HAPPY HUMP DAY!

Friend: You are going to make me cry. thank you for the sweet card. thank you for remembering me
Me: Of course I remembered you, silly! Apparently you are a hard person to forget ;)
Friend: not true. i felt totally forgotten today. and i was fine with it until about 3 minutes before i got home. And I got home and there was no mail in the mailbox and i walked in and the mail was on the table and there was a card for MEEE. not even my parents called! hahahaha. you are wonderful. seriously. thanks for being such a great friend.

... and they're out!
After writing only forty six cards this year, I finally sent them off a few days ago. I know my timing is a bit off but better late than never, right? Or is it 'never be late, that's best'?
Hope you get one, and if not, maybe next year!

Happy Birthday, Raz!
Anyone who really knows me probably knows that I screamed, "Happy birthday, Babaloo!" That's right, last week was his birthday and oh my, was it a grand celebration! The festivities began with a home-cooked French meal, Sundance concert featuring Ms. Lauryn Hill at HarryO's, followed by a small, intimate dinner at Rino's with his family, brunch at Pago (the pork tacos were amazing but remind me of sopes), snowboarding and then a weekend of shenanigans in Park City, and lastly, GO KARTING!
Raz's friend, Cameron, whom I met only once and at that it was technically our first date, came into town and Taylor aquired a house in Park City for the weekend. We had a four bedroom plus loft house, not to mention the free parking, all to ourselves on the top of Main Street. I met Shiela, Cameron's Aussie-Denver friend, and we all enjoyed a small concert at Star Bar with Chali 2na of Jurassic 5. We had a great time, Taylor couldn't stop talking about how he met Chali in the loo, and it was the first time Ioana and I got to spend time together in a social setting and away from the parents' house. We went back to the house, where we enjoyed a few more drinks and birthday cake, of course. Now, if you think that's a great night, Cameron made us a breakfast of traditional, southern-style biscuits and gravy all from scratch and we also enjoyed OJ from a duck pitcher.
Sunday was not a day of rest, however. Dan and James took Raz go karting at SpeedSkate in Layton. It was such a blast. I knew it would be fun but never anticipated it to be that amazing! The only down side was that I couldn't reach the gas petal fully and Dan's main competitor was a retired race car driver, i mean, a professional! Isn't that unethical?! Here are a few photos from the jollity...
Needless-to-say, we were both exhausted after such an eventful week. I think a few more naps are in order!

Martine, mmmm or meh?
I know I have been slacking on this whole blog posting thingy but I'm back for now and that's what counts, right? ...right?! Well, here we go...
An activity that I muchly enjoy is to dine out. I love love love getting dressed up and walking around the city with that special someone. And don't forget electing the experience of the evening. Those who know me know exactly how much time and consideration goes into picking just the right place. Sometimes I think I get more into discovering the most fitting location (and why it's suitable) than actually carrying through with it.
As another Friday night date-night pulled around, Raz and I contemplated the usual question of what to do and where to eat. We came across option of Martine, as it was the only place left with open reservation slots. Although I had been there on a date with Nelson and had a terrible time, I decided to give it another shot with some new company.
And here is my honest opinion after the jump, again. Firstly, the hostess NEVER smiled. Not like, "Dude, you should smile more often," but as if her smile sensors where physically and mechanically disabled. Then the service was slow, and I mean snail-ass-slow! I'm one to deal with slothful service for amazingly mind-blowing chow, but only amazingly mind-blowing. Sad to say, it was not. We ordered four tapas plates to begin with and the only reason I liked this dish was because I really find all things asparagus quite delightful, especially white asparagus. Like I said, it was not. The stocks were over cooked and the only thing worse than no asparagus is mushy asparagus.

The trip-tip with sweet potato chips were over cooked and the haricot verts were saturated in oil to the point were it almost escaped my mouth disguised as drool.... phew, that was a close one! The peculiar potato cake, however, was yummy until I realized that the chorizo tasted like a jerked pepperoni stick. I prefer my tapas to be more on the fresh side and that usually entails veggies, superiorly seasonal ones, and spices used very lightly, such as saffron or nutmeg, which this was not by any means. But at least the bread was the right amount of soft and hard!
Now on to the decor. Let me just start with how much I absolutely hate mixed decor. Traditional and contemporary just don't work for me together. It looked like the room I had to share with my two sisters when I was in elementary school. We all designed a wall and had our own beddings. You can just imagine how it looked since I was only 7 at the time!
All-in-all, Martine gets a 1 out of 5 stars which means the verdict is 'meh'.
The up side, after dinner Raz and I attended the Downtown Gallery Stroll and we had a grand time.
HAPPY WEEKEND, ALL!

Congrats, Mottu and Gottu!
About two years ago they met and just last holiday season the arrangements began. Well, this past week, the two got hitched! It's official and someone finally tied down the wild child!
They had a wonderful celebration in India (I wasn't able to attend due to finals) and are soon off to honeymoon it up in Paris, France... how cliché!
I know I should insert of photo of the happy newly weds but I'm more happy for my puppy!
Congratulations, you two! And I can't wait to see the photos and hear all about it! Well, except the honeymoon, that is.

Dear Santa
I've made my list, checked it twice so this time your in town... you better not skip me, Santa! There is so much talk about what to gift others and to get just the right thing. I mean, it's crazy that it has come to directly asking each other what they want. I'm not one for accepting gifts, especially something I know I will never use. Either get me something I can use AND want or let's just leave it at a good ol' fashioned IOU for drinks some night.
Well, with the recent years of people gifting me junk and instilling an obligation to keep it because I always feel bad throwing shit away, I have made my list this year. I've decided to put things on the list that I want but can't justify getting for myself. I mean, go big THEN go home, right?!
Well, I'm going to go study now since the big guy is watching. Just remember, "... He sees you when you're sleeping, He knows when your awake..." if that's not creepy enough!
Happy Holidays, whatever you and your loved ones choose to celebrate!

- Awesome Pie Maker
- Hot Sauce because I can't find one with just the right balance of spice and flavor
- THIS Mixer
- An iPad, I mean, would a list be complete without one?
- Instant Camera just because I have always loved and missed Polaroids!
- The entire Le Creuset set. I mean, even Oprah wants it!
- RSL Season Tickets. Preferably premium seating but I'll take whatever I can get
- Puppy! Can't blame a girl for trying...

2320 hours, 97 days, 14 weeks
That's how long we have known each other and yesterday he surprised me with these beautiful flowers.
He said that he had a very realistic dream and all he can remember from it is that he needed to buy his lady friend something rosy.... He did well, very well!

Simple acts of kindness
I just wanted to share a wonderful experience with you. Yesterday morning my mama and I went to get breakfast at our usual spot, the same as she always comes into town, Park Cafe. Maybe the stars weren't aligned for us or maybe I was hormonal, no that's not it, but we just were not getting along particularly well that day. We sat in silence and ate our meals and sipped our coffee. Joe, the one who refers to us as 'the usuals', came over to greet us and said, "Hope your enjoying your visit again," as we both just shrugged and awkwardly smiled. We finished our food and bundled back up as we made our way to the front counter to pay our ticket. At the register Joe said to us, "This one's on me. Hopefully it will make you beautiful ladies smile at least for a minute." It worked. We both just looked at each other and smiled as my mom said to him that he is too nice to us every time. He ensured us that it was good karma for being so gracious each time we come back as loyal customers.
Some see the glass half empty and believe that people need to prove themselves good. I have always seen it the other way around and trusted people and often times been burned for being too nice but it's simple things like this that keep my faith in people. Maybe he wanted something more than just a smile, possibly even a number, but I want to believe it was selfless and without a motive. It was such a little thing with such a big impact. That thought made us both smile and was a wonderful ice breaker for me and my mama. Thank you, Joe, and karma will be good to you in return.

Happy New Year, everyone! This is actually one of my favorite times of the year. It beats the American holiday season anytime! The occasion screams of fun and food and family and I can't wait to make new memories with new family every year! Have a wonderfully prosperous year!

Farewell, fall colors....
... and here is the last of the beautiful fall colors from my cold apartment window. Darn the frost and first snow!
Come on in, November!
Good riddance October and hellllllllo November! Halloween isn't really my thing. I scare easily and dark thoughts keep me up at night. I've even tried the less typical methods of celebrating the occasion by doing Vegas in the past and rather than helping me cope with my insecurities of the traditionally Celtic festival, it seems more like the excuse for girls to dress even sluttier and expect to get away with it . Here is a photo from last year's disastrous Halloween and one of this year's as well.

We decided to be a bit more classy this year, as you can tell. It was a great night with my two favorite guys and I'm definitely looking forward to next year's shindig.
This year has just flown by; Christmas music already on the radio and all! As much as I dislike October and love all things fall, I really didn't want November to come around this year. Well, at least not so soon. You see, the first week of December my best friend is going to India to tie the knot. And while we are all very excited for the two lovebirds, we realize it will still not resolve her awkwardness when it comes to relationships. All that aside, I will not be able to be there and as the days count down, he gets excited, she gets nervous and I get sad. I can't believe Sharanya will be a Surdi soon! Oh, and Avani's birthday is the day after Thanksgiving. My monkey will be 1!
Happy Fall, All!

Happy Columbus Day, Y'all!
I would like to share my story of the Monday blues...
I ran home earlier today so I could go to the store and pick up a few things to make a special dinner for myself and Raz. Well, just about a few blocks away from my apartment I saw a red S2000. Like a stupid little school girl, I got all giddy and began to wave frantically and then, yup, you guessed it, I blew him a kiss. Not like doing that publicly isn't embarrassing enough, but as the car got closer I realized it wasn't Raz. OH.MY.GOD.
I carried on my way and went to the wine store across from the bakery but it was just after five o'clock and they were closed. Quickly rerouting myself, I traveled to the new wine store near Costco and noticed they were closed as well. I thought to myself that maybe all the wine stores in Utah close at five in the PM.
From my biological need of alcohol in my system, I am aware that the ghetto liquor store on 4th is open much later. This I know fo' sho'! (<-- Yes, Sharanya, that just happened:) I pulled into the parking lot and, sure enough, they were closed as well. It was at this point that I realized it is no coincidence and this is not funny if someone is playing a joke! As I got out of my car to see if there was a sign on the door, I was already expecting the worst case scenario. I mean, this is Utah and anything can happen, even modern day prohibition. Just steps away from range of sight of the front door, the homeless man near the dumpster yells, "They're closed for Columbus Day."
I feel very small right now that the bum is more patriotic than I am. Isn't this supposed to be on the calendar and aren't we supposed to get school off in remembrance of... Mr. Columbus...?
Happy Monday and, more importantly, Happy Columbus Day to all!
